Park Church - Giffnock - Live Service Streaming

Requirements

We have provided Audio Visual services and advice to The Park Church in Giffnock, Glasgow for many years. We were asked to prvoide a solution that would enable the streaming of their Sunday services and events live across their YouTube Channel, and to record performances and concerts.

Upon consulation, the customer's requirements were clear: provide a solution which was both affordable and as simple as possible to operate, retaining their existing AV equipment where possible.

The Solution

To satisfy all of the requirements above, the following equipment was supplied:

  • 2 x cSkills Pan, Tilt and Zoom Cameras with joystick controller
  • 1 x Atem Mini Pro broadcast switcher/streamer
  • 1 x 22" preview monitor
  • All cable distribution and equipment installation

The Church already had broadband installed so our equipment could be integrated with the established network. Existing equipment included an audio mixing desk which was fed by various types of microphones and instruments around the Church along with a tower PC which was used to create and relay PowerPoint messages and praise to a ceiling mounted projector which projected the images onto the wall facing the congregation.

We were able to take an output from the desk which would provide the audio source for our ATEM streamer unit, similarly we were able to split the signal from the PC to the Projector and provide another source for the broadcast.

It was agreed that to provide enough coverage for almost every occasion and ceremony within the Church, two PTZ cameras would be required. One camera with 20x zoom capability would be mounted to the back of the church facing the pulpit, and the other with 5x zoom be positioned half-way down the nave.

A single keyboard joystick would allow the control of the pan, tilt and zoom functions of each camera, with programmable pre-set camera positions around the pulpit, font and piano also included to provide easy switching during the service.

Once we had tested audio suitability and agreed camera positions we decided the ATEM Mini Pro live production switcher would fit the church's requirements perfectly. The ATEM range of switchers make it easy to create professional multi camera productions for live streaming.

With up to four HDMI inputs, you can set up multiple camera angles such as wide shots and close ups of each person in the performance. Additional sources can be added such as a computer with a PowerPoint slide show or websites. All switching is in real time so you can live stream your show to platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Zoom and many more!

All ATEM Mini models feature USB that operates as a simple webcam source. That means you can plug into a computer and get working with any streaming platform! The software is tricked into thinking the ATEM Mini is a common webcam, but it's really a live production switcher. Simply plug-and-play and you have an HD ready streaming source!

Summary

After the successful installation visit, the system is now operational. We continue to support the customer, and provided full training to various members of the congregation. Our on-going relationship also ensures we will be on hand to offer any further advice and assistance where necessary.
