St Columbas Hospice - Echo Meeting Room

Requirements

Extension for Community Health Outcomes (ECHO) is a collaborative model of education developed by The University of Mexico and is now used all over the world, and by over 40 hospices in the UK.

St Columba’s Hospice use ECHO to widen access to palliative care knowledge and skills by supporting health and social care professionals who deliver palliative care other than in a hospice.

St Columba’s asked us to propose and then provide an upgrade to the audio visual facilities in their existing teaching room to allow a modern solution to present, video conference and collaborate as part of the echo project and as a general meeting space.

  • Dual large format monitors to allow a view of content and audience simultaneously
  • Dual desktop PCs required to be able to show on either of the 2 large format monitors on the wall, or either of the 2 desktop monitors
  • Video and audio conferencing equipment suitable to work with Zoom and Microsoft Teams, capable of capturing a high quality feed of the room
  • Modern and branded lectern\teaching desk with capacity to fit dual desktop monitors to give the presenter a view whilst facing the room
  • Simple control system to operate the audio visual equipment

The Solution

After discussion and successful demonstration and proof of concept the solution was provided using the following equipment:

Summary

The installed AV solution has enabled the room to become a multipurpose space for presenting and video conferencing, by both staff and visitors alike. The simple control system means at the touch a few buttons someone with no training can switch the system, select their desired PC or laptop and start presenting or conferencing.
